Spots Available - 2011 Summer Course: "Using Theater Strategies with English Language Learners"

Lincoln Center Theater Open Stages Education Program and the NYC Department of Education's After School Development Program (ASPDP) announce a summer P credit course offering. The course, Using Theater Strategies with English Language Learners is for participants to actively explore how theater practice can enrich English language acquisition. The class starts on July 11th so register ASAP if interested.

A “P” In-Service Credit Course

Description: Drawing from Lincoln Center Theater’s successful Learning English and Drama (LEAD) Project, participants will experience, analyze and learn to implement theater-based lessons that focus on engaging ELL students in exploring text, including dramatic literature, and in promoting their speaking skills through bringing these texts to life. Participants will receive copies of demonstrated lesson plans, and will design original plans that utilize drama conventions taught in the course.

WHEN:
Monday-Tuesday, July 11th, 12th
Monday-Thursday, July 18th-21st, 2011,
9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (36 hours total)

FEE:
$125 Non-refundable ASPDP course fee
+ $110 fee for registration & $50 for materials
= $285 total cost
