Oklahoma Workshop on Native American Languages
Saturday and Sunday, April 14-15, 2012, Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, Oklahoma
The Center for Tribal Studies at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK, announces its 5th annual Oklahoma Workshop on Native American Languages. OWNAL focuses on descriptive studies of indigenous languages of the Americas. This weekend workshop takes place at the end of the 40th Annual Symposium on the American Indian (April 9-14, 2012). The 40th Annual Symposium on the American Indian will have the following theme:
The Journey of Sovereign Nations: Self-determination and Human Rights
Prior to OWNAL, a Language Revitalization workshop, also part of the Symposium, will take place on the Thursday and Friday preceding OWNAL. The Language Revitalization Workshop theme is 'The Grammar of Sound: Creating Sound Memories for Teaching Your Language.'
The deadline for abstracts is February 3, 2012.
