October 1: Join others in a Professional Learning Community to develop a program that will meet the needs of teachers of heritage/native speakers. The PLC will read and evaluate current professional research articles, explore effective literacy strategies to address student learning needs, review established heritage/native speaker program models, determine a process to align a curriculum to the CA World Language Standards, and identify the components of a successful professional learning program. Enrollment is limited to 6 participants who have experience teaching heritage/native speakers. A small stipend will be paid to cover travel expenses. The first meeting will be Saturday, October 1, from 8:30 to 12:30 in Dwinelle Hall at UC Berkeley. Three additional meeting dates will be arranged by the group.
