An NEH Summer Institute for K-12 Teachers
University at Buffalo, State University of New York
July 1-19, 2013
The Asian Studies Program of the University at Buffalo (UB) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to organize and host China and India: Comparisons and Connections, a three-week summer institute for teachers in July 2013. The institute, conducted in partnership with the University at Buffalo Confucius Institute and the Indian cultural organization Triveni, will provide a multifaceted exploration of the long histories, rich cultures, and contemporary societies of China and India, with a focus on comparisons, contrasts, and interactions. In addition to engaging lectures and discussion, participants will enjoy Indian and Chinese movies, performances, and recreational activities.
Teachers participating in this three-week NEH summer institute will receive a $2,700 stipend to cover travel, accommodations, and meals. They will also receive a set of textbooks, sourcebooks, and primary source materials in a reading packet sent to them prior to the institute.
