The Academy for Arabic Teachers (AAT) is a professional development program for experienced Arabic teachers. The workshop this summer will focus on standards-based thematic units and assessment. An on-line preparatory course will be followed by a face-to-face hands-on workshop at Boston University for a total of 100 contact hours. Upon successful completion of the program, the graduates will be offered 10 Professional Development Points by the School of Education at Boston University. Additionally, the program will include a practicum experience and a follow-up seminar.
Upon successful completion of the program, the participants will be awarded a program completion certificate, a stipend, as well as Professional Development Points from Boston University (pending approval).

Program Dates:
Phase I- Online course: May 15-June 7, 2012
Phase II- Hands-on workshop at Boston University: June 8-10, 2012
Phase III- Practicum: September/October 2012
Phase IV- Follow-up Seminar: Nov 3, 2012
Requirements:
A minimum of 3 years of full-time teaching experience
Familiarity with standards-based instruction
Native, near-native or advanced proficiency in Modern Standard Arabic
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree
US citizenship or permanent residency
Application deadline: April 22, 2012
Admission is competitive and seats are limited; early applications are encouraged.
