Two films which celebrate Verdi will be shown for free at the Italian Cultural Institute in San Francisco.
22 October: La Traviata a Paris (2000; 115 minutes) is a filming of Verdi's opera La Traviata shown in the original Parisian scenes and times of day described in the libretto. Given the distance between the numerous locations, the film required a high level of technological sophistication and received a 2001 Emmy award as well as a Prix Italia.

29 October: likewise, Rigoletto a Mantova (2010, 129 minutes) shows Verdi's Rigoletto in the settings in Mantova and hours of the day identified by the libretto. With Placido Domingo and conducted by Zubin Mehta.
